Cookies
There is one necessary cookie on this website. I don’t want it, but apparently it’s something that WordPress needs to function. It does not store any personally identifiable data. Therefore this site does not need a cookie pop up (yay! I hate them). This is the cookie:
wpEmojiSettingsSupports – WordPress sets this cookie when a user interacts with emojis on a WordPress site. It helps determine if the user’s browser can display emojis properly. It lasts as long as the session.
If you visit our login page, we will set another temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. I have no idea why. Presumably if you log in, it wants to make sure you are still logged in if you leave the site and then come back.
wordpress_test_cookie – Used on sites built with WordPress. Tests whether or not the browser has cookies enabled. It lasts as long as the session.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Since visitors are not allowed to register or log into the website, this cookie is moot. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. Therefore this site still does not need a cookie pop up (I really hate them). But it is documented here for the sake of transparency. And the cookie banner is a precaution.
Email form
There is a form on this website. It is an easy way to get in contact with me. We’ll ask for your name, your email address and your message. This will get sent to shout@duncanmckean.com.
Embedded content from other websites
Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. It’s got nothing to do with this site. Go check out their individual privacy policies. It’s likely to be YouTube or Soundcloud. Maybe Bandcamp.
Who we share your data with
We don’t share your data with anybody else. It’s your data, we don’t have the right to do that. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. You don’t have access to that part of the website so this point is moot.
How long we retain your data
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. But you don’t have access to that part of the website so, again, this point is moot.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. We do not allow accounts on this website, nor are you allowed to leave comments. So that data is not stored.
Where your data is sent
We will never share your details that you send us to another third party. We don’t share any of your data. Your data belongs to you, not me. If you use our form to contact us, we will retain your email address securely in our email system until you ask for it to be removed. We do not collect or store your IP or User-Agent.
