Open a new Terminal. If you have Homebrew, it’s as easy as:

brew install git

Next, you have to initialise it.

git config --global user.name "Your Name"
git config --global user.email "yourname@example.com"

You can make the output with pretty colours using:

git config --global color.ui auto

Check to see if it’s working by:

git config --get user.name
git config --get user.email

done.
